THE STRUCTURE OF THE SHORTCUTS
Each of the shortcuts for our cardboard materials is made up of at least two letters, which in themselves represent an abbreviation. The first letter is always a single or double letter that indicates whether and how the material surface has been coated, for example "G" for "coated" ("gestrichen" in German).
This is followed by another letter describing the material used. This is simply the first letter of the respective carton type designation (e.g. "Z" for pulp board – "Zellstoffkarton" in German). Differences are made on the basis of the fibers from which the cartonboard is made.
In addition to these letters, there is often a number at the end of the shortcut. However, this does not necessarily have to be present. However, if there are different versions of a cardboard type, this number provides information about the actual variant. The difference lies in factors such as the coating weight and the color (e.g. on the reverse side).

GC1 AND GC2: CHROMO CARDBOARD
The cardboard types with the shortcuts GC1 and GC2 are so-called chromo cardboard. Only primary fibers are used for their production. Although no waste paper is processed, the virgin fibers used - at least for packaging warehouse cartons - come from sustainable forestry with FSC certification.
As the "G" in the shortcut suggests, both of our GC cartons are coated, doubled on the front. While the reverse side of the GC1 cardboard is simply coated, the reverse side of the GC2 cardboard is even left natural. The latter is therefore not white, but nevertheless printable.
Thanks to the double pigment coating on the front of the cardboard, a very high-quality print image can be achieved. This is characterized, for example, by its high color intensity. GC1 and GC2 chromo cardboard is used primarily for product packaging, for example in the pharmaceutical, food, and toy industries.

GZ: CELLULOSE CARDBOARD
GZ pulp cardboard consists of pure cellulose. This means that all layers of the board are wood-free. Together with the pigment coating, this ensures a pure, bright white color tone on both the front and back of the board.
Due to the high cellulose content, the surface is particularly soft and smooth. The material therefore has a very pleasant feel as well as ideal conditions for brilliant, glossy color printing - in this respect, GZ pulp cardboard beats even the classic chromo cardboard.
In terms of mechanical properties, pulp cardboard also proves to be extremely resistant to bending and tearing. Processed into packaging, the resistant cardboard offers very reliable protection of the goods. GZ cartons are therefore used primarily for packaging for high-quality and exclusive products.

GD2: RECYCLING CARDBOARD
The shortcut "GD" stands for coated duplex cardboard, a type of cardboard that consists mainly of secondary fibers. For example, our GD2 cardboard is made from 99% recycled waste paper, or more precisely, recycled pulp. Apart from virgin fibers, the production of duplex cardboards also saves valuable resources such as energy and water. They are even more environmentally friendly than cardboard packaging made from primary fibers.
The front of the CD2 carton is excellent for printing because it is double coated and white, just like our chromo cartons. Only the back of the boxes is uncoated and therefore has a light, gray natural color. Sustainable recycled materials and a classy look are perfectly compatible with the help of our duplex cardboard. That is why it is also a very popular choice of material for manufacturers of sustainable products.
