Do I have to pay for the punching tool again on my next order?
There are no additional costs for the punching tool for subsequent orders. The one-time cost for the tool varies depending on the size of the boxes and the quantity ordered. If the tool wears out over time, we will create a new one free of charge. After your order has been delivered, we will store the details of the tool in our database.
What is laser punched or conventionally punched and what is the difference?
Folding boxes are traditionally "conventionally punched" with a format-specific punching tool. For this, however, additional tool costs are incurred, which can be particularly significant in the case of small runs.

About a special laser technology, we can punch out and crease your folding box without a format-specific punching tool. This type of production is very quick and inexpensive.
Laser punch:
  • for small runs
  • no tool costs
  • 3 days express production
  • light brown creasing (except for the brown natural carton

Conventional punch:
  • for medium to large runs

  • no express production

How do I get an original sample print or white sample for my folding box?

To convince yourself of our products and manufacturing quality before placing your actual order, you have the option of ordering your own customised folding box sample. Thanks to our digital printing and finishing technologies, we offer you the opportunity to order a customised folding box sample made to measure. With or without printing, as desired. To do so, use the following settings in our product calculators:

Unprinted samplePrinted pattern
Quantity:1 - 101 - 10
Colourfulness:unprinted4-colour Euroscale
LacquerNo Lacquer glossy/matt varnish

Please note that the prices for individual samples only reflect the actual production costs. We are happy to offer you a 50-100% discount on these costs for your next order, subject to agreement. Our samples are also produced using advanced laser technology, whereby the laser is used not only for cutting but also for creasing your folding box sample. For the main order, we combine this innovative technology with traditional die-cutting methods to ensure the best quality at all times.

For every order, you have the option of allowing only conventional punching methods. To do this, simply select the ‘Conventional punching only’ option in our calculator.

For detailed information or assistance with sampling your individual folding box, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service.

For what do I need a protective varnish and what is his function?
The main purpose of a protective coating or laminate is to seal the surface of your folding box. One of these two options is necessary to ensure the longevity and protection of the material and print.
  • A protective coating is applied as a wafer-thin surface sealant and protects the print image and the material of the folding box from abrasion, dirt and other influences. You can choose between a glossy or matt coating.

  • A protective laminate is an ultra-thin plastic coating that offers a very high level of protection against abrasion, moisture, dirt and other influences. It is available in matt, glossy or soft-touch versions and also gives the box a particularly elegant surface finish.

Regardless of your choice, neither protective varnish nor protective laminate has any influence on the recyclability of the folding carton.
What do I have to consider when creating my print data?
To use special colours such as Pantone for your folding box, we offer various options depending on the printing method. For small to medium print runs, we generally use digital printing in a 4-colour system (CMYK), in which Pantone colours can be simulated using customised colour mixtures.

For larger print runs, we recommend offset printing, which allows direct use of Pantone colours to precisely meet your specific colour requirements. If you would like a personalised quote for folding boxes with special colours in offset printing, our customer service team will be happy to help and answer all your questions.
Can I choose a neutral return address?

Our standard production time for folding boxes is usually 9 working days. However, for urgent orders, we can also complete the order within 6 working days. The fastest possible production time we can offer is 3 working days, with an additional 1-2 working days required for shipping. For this particularly fast production, we only use our laser punch, as it is not possible to manufacture a customised punching tool in such a short time.

Is it possible to print a best-before date on the protective varnish?

On request, we can manufacture folding boxes that are suitable for direct food contact. We only use high-quality virgin fibre cardboard and low-migration FCM printing inks and varnishes that are certified to meet the highest standards. Our customer service team will be happy to provide you with a personalised quote.

Cardboard sleeves as bandersoles – eye-catching displays for consumer packaging

With a sturdy cardboard sleeve as a banderole, you can not only give your product packaging a sophisticated and unique look, but also create a special unboxing experience and a highly effective advertising space. The banderole sleeves, which open on one or both sides, are perfect as an additional medium for conveying your brand’s messages and evoking emotions. Discover the versatile possibilities of our cardboard sleeves as bandoles – whether for packaging food, cosmetics or everyday items.

How cardboard sleeves work as bandolers

The sleeve is a classic outer wrapper that encloses the primary packaging and adds an extra layer to it. It can, for example, be fitted around a folding box or transparent plastic packaging to provide additional protection for the contents and create space for text, labels or branding. Of course, a sleeve can also serve purely decorative purposes, presenting the product in its packaging in an elegant manner and thereby making it desirable. A superb way to integrate a sleeve into a packaging concept is through sturdy cardboard sleeves made from solid or corrugated board. They are open at both ends and are simply slipped over the main packaging. These packaging elements are cost-effective to produce at Packaging Warehouse, yet make a big impression when combined with a striking design and a high-quality finish. This turns your packaging into a compelling, appealing product and sales booster – whether on the supermarket shelf or in an online shop.

Discover the benefits of using a cardboard sleeve as a band:

  • A wide range of design options in terms of colour, material and texture
  • Increased advertising space for branding or advertising messages
  • Elegant presentation thanks to sturdy packaging
  • Suitable for a wide range of industries
  • A unique unboxing experience
  • A wide range of personalisation options at packaging warehouse
Wraparound label for food packaging

From books to cosmetics packaging – the potential of cardboard sleeves as wrappers

In the consumer market in particular, there is hardly any sector in which high-quality sleeves are not used. Traditionally, cardboard sleeves are used as outer packaging for books, and were previously also used for CDs and DVDs. However, sleeves are also widely used in supermarkets. Fresh food presented in opaque or transparent packaging can convey all the necessary information thanks to a cardboard sleeve used as a banderole. The banderole is frequently used as food packaging to display the ingredients, the nutritional information table or specific labelling. Here, the banderole serves as a high-quality alternative to traditional labels. The same applies to cosmetics packaging and pharmaceutical products. In these cases, strict labelling requirements are often necessary. A cardboard sleeve as a banderole expands the surface area on which this information can be conveyed alongside the brand message. For bottles, cans and containers, the sleeve serves a completely different function: it bundles several items into a single unit, thereby making them easier to transport. The corporate identity, advertising slogan and key labelling information are all displayed on the uniform outer packaging.
Custom-made sleeve

Entdecken Sie die Branchen, in denen Kartonschuber als Banderolen besonders häufig zu finden sind:

  • Food, fresh, long-life or vacuum-packed
  • Bottles, cans and containers
  • Cosmetics and pharmaceutical products
  • Books and electronic goods
  • Personalised gifts

Thoughtful gifts wrapped in a cardboard sleeve

The cardboard sleeve used as a banderole is a popular packaging idea for gifts. The reason for this is quite simple: sliding the sleeve on and off creates a special moment for the end consumer when unwrapping the gift. First, the sleeve is carefully removed from the main packaging before the actual gift can be opened. When designed appropriately and with an emotional touch, the cardboard sleeve conveys the feeling of elegant, high-quality gift packaging.

Custom-made sleeve

Unlimited creative freedom for elegant presentations

Used as a sleeve, the cardboard sleeve offers a wide range of options for creating an attractive design for your packaging. By adjusting the dimensions, you can tailor the size of the cardboard sleeve perfectly to your desired packaging size, whilst also playing with the proportions. This means the sleeve can be just a narrow element on the main packaging or wrap around the entire package. By customising it with your own print designs, you can design the cardboard sleeve as a banderole entirely according to your preferences and your brand’s corporate identity. The following information must not be missing from a classic banderole:
  • Corporate identity elements in the company colours
  • Company logos and branding
  • Further information about the product or brand in a short paragraph
  • Compelling slogans and catchy advertising taglines
  • Legally required information and labelling
  • For consumer products: ingredients or nutritional information
  • Include a personal greeting or message with gifts

Durable materials and special finishes at packaging warehouse

At Packaging Warehouse, bandolers can be made from a wide variety of cardboard materials to suit your exact requirements. Generally, they can be produced using sturdy corrugated cardboard or robust solid board. The popular FEFCO 0503 cardboard sleeve from our range is made of corrugated cardboard, available with E, B or EB flutes. Available in natural brown or crisp white, it is fully printable. To achieve a more sophisticated and durable finish, we recommend our protective varnishes or protective laminates, each available in matt and gloss finishes. This transforms the packaging into an attractive display surface for your product and your brand.

A corrugated cardboard sleeve or a solid cardboard sleeve?

When companies are considering the design of their product packaging, they are often faced with the choice between a corrugated cardboard slipcase and a solid board sleeve. Whilst the corrugated cardboard version is known for its exceptional strength, the solid board variant integrates more effectively into certain packaging concepts thanks to its thinner material. You can find out whether a corrugated cardboard slipcase or a solid board sleeve is better suited to your application in a no-obligation consultation with our team of experts.
