Sustainability of folding boxes

Depending on the board grade, the fibres may come from forests certified under recognised schemes such as FSC® or PEFC™ – please ask us about the certification status of the board grade you choose.

Other factors influencing the sustainability of folding boxes are:

  • The recyclability of the materials and finishes used
  • The upcycling possibilities of folding boxes
  • The manufacturing conditions (origin of electricity / optimisation of production processes)
  • The origin of the folding boxes and the length of the shipping routes
According to the German Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt), per capita consumption of paper, cardboard and paperboard in Germany was 211.6 kilograms in 2022, and paper, cardboard and paperboard are among the materials with the highest recycling rates in Germany. Please note that the proportion of recycled fibres varies considerably between board grades: virgin fibre boards such as GC1 or GC2 contain little or no recycled fibre, while our GD2 recycled board contains around 80% secondary fibres.
