High product-safety requirements
The German Medicinal Products Act contains a range of requirements that medicine packaging must meet. Tablets and various liquid medicines are taken orally, so the packaging must also comply with the relevant food standards. High hygiene requirements also apply to ointments, tinctures and inhaled medicines.
The required information must be displayed clearly on the packaging. The print must remain legible over an extended period and must not smudge or fade. Important details must also be embossed in tactile Braille.
The main requirements include:
- all required information must be printed in clear language using durable, easily legible text;
- the medicine packaging must display the marketing-authorisation number, batch number and individual serial number;
- the information must also be accessible through a printed, scannable code;
- In addition, the information must be retrievable via a printed scannable code.
- tamper-evident protection must be provided, for example through a tear-open perforation or an adhesive label seal.

Medicines come in numerous forms and primary packaging - our range of suitable packaging solutions for the various purposes is correspondingly large:
Folding boxes: Tablet blisters, small bottles with tinctures, inhalers or even injections in single-use syringes are optimally accommodated in folding boxes. Our folding boxes with tuck-in flap are easy to open. They can be printed all over - so you have maximum freedom when placing the necessary information and there is still enough space for your individual branding. If you need food-safe packaging, we offer you medicine boxes from HACCP-certified production.
Inlays: You can order special cardboard inlays from us as an additional feature. With a precisely punched or lasered recess to anchor your medicine firmly in its position. This provides even greater protection, because your product can not slip during transport. As a divider, you can use it to accommodate several items in the medicine packaging and separate a blister from the package insert or an applicator, for example.
Labels: With our labels you have the possibility to stick your medicines directly and to leave your design or important information on cans, bottles or additionally on folding boxes. Choose between round or square labels or send us an request with your individual desired shape. You can also use small labels as a seal over the tuck-in flap for first-opening protection.
Stand-up pouches and doypacks: For liquid, powder or paste medicine, you can use our pouch packaging. They offer a high oxygen, aroma and moisture barrier. In addition, you have the choice of having the pouches equipped with round or Euro holes, a tear-off tab or a zipper. They can be printed all around, so you also have a variety of design options and enough space for all important information.
Counter displays and Euro slot hangers: Counter displays can be used well for presentation at the point of sale. With additional surfaces, the cardboard offers even more possibilities and space to attract attention and implement individual designs. In a stable version, the display cardboard boxes often also serve as transport packaging for your medicine boxes.
Euro slot hangers are the perfect complement for individually packaged medicines and, with their standardized perforation, fit all standard goods presentation systems - throughout Europe.
Shipping packaging: Online pharmacies can find various solutions for shipping packaging - matching their medicine boxes. These include stable folding boxes made of corrugated cardboard, practical folding boxes or special e-commerce packaging with tear-off flap and integrated adhesive strip for resealing.
Cardboard for medicines: the right material
With our medicine boxes you have the choice between seven different types or qualities:

At packaging warehouse, we rely exclusively on recyclable and compostable cardboard. In this way, we consciously make use of already existing resources and protect nature. This will also convince your environmentally conscious customers. What's more, the cardboard can be recycled again afterwards, giving it a new lease of life.
For surface finishing, you can choose varnishes and laminates to change the look and feel. They provide additional protection for material and printing.
Your customer can also convince himself of the quality of your medicine by holding it in his hands. Haptics plays a major role in this. For example, embossing with Braille is easier to feel on a smooth, glossy surface. A soft-touch laminate, on the other hand, gives the medicine packaging a smooth, warm feel.
Labels for medicines: our choice of materials
For your medicine labels you have the choice between three different materials:
- Matte label paper
- Textured paper
- White PP film
All three are recyclable and vegan. The PP film in particular is especially hard-wearing and suitable for indoor and outdoor applications. Even moisture can not harm the plastic label - so the print remains readable for a long time.
Bag packaging for medicines: Our materials
For the pouches for your medicine you have the choice between the following different types or qualities:
- Film composite white (PET/EVOH/PE)
- Film composite transparent (PET/EVOH/PE)
- Foil composite silver-metallic (PET/PE)
- Natural paper white + PE
- Natural paper brown + PE
Each material has its own advantages so that you can always choose the right material for different applications.
Packaging material for medicines: Choose a suitable size
Does your customer use your medicine several times a day or only once a week? Depending on this, you should choose packaging that can withstand constant opening and closing. Small medicine like headache pills can also be marketed as a to-go version so that your customer has them ready to hand at any time while on the go.
According to your individual requirements, you can determine the size of your medicine packaging:
- Small size: medicine packaging in "to-go" size for headache or throat pain tablets, nasal spray or drops, for example.
- Medium size: packaging for several tablet blisters, but also for small to medium size cough syrup bottles.
- Large size: bulk and stock packs of nutritional supplements, large tablet packs of 100 pieces and more.
